3 Oregon law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty honored at memorial ceremony - KVAL

SALEM, Ore. - Three Oregon law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty were honored Tuesday, May 3 at the 2022 Fallen Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony hosted by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST).
Deputy S. Allen Burdic of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office passed away March 11, 2021 from duty-related wounds suffered in 1980. On August 12 of that year, Deputy Burdic was shot twice by a suspect who then stole the deputy's patrol car, running over the deputy's legs as he fled.

Sgt. John R. Burright of the Oregon State Police passed away May 4, 2021 from duty-related injuries suffered in 2001. On September 4, 2001, Sgt. Burright and two other officers stopped to help a family whose van had broken down along I-5 when a driver fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed his pickup into the officers.

Sgt. Carl L. Frazier of the Lane County Sheriff's Office passed away October 9, 1979 of a heart attack while responding to a crop of marijuana at the bottom of a canyon, according to county records.
The State's memorial honors 192 fallen Oregon law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty since the 1860s. This includes officers from city, county, state, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies who have served as law enforcement officers, corrections officers, and parole and probation officers.
