A law enforcement officer stops auto theft in Enterprise - WDHN
ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN)—At around eight o’clock Monday morning, several anxious moments for a sworn certified law enforcement officer and his friend in Enterprise.
Scott Byrd says his friend, Richie Bell, stopped by his business off the south end of the Boll Weevil Circle. When at one point, Byrd noticed Bell’s Ford Focus starting to leave the parking lot.
Within an instant, Byrd and Bell ran to stop the person who had gotten behind the driver’s wheel. Byrd jumped on the hood and pointed his gun at the man who wouldn’t stop.
After the driver took his foot off the accelerator, they were able to get the driver out of the car. He’s been identified as Justin Ammons, 19, of Geneva. He’s now behind bars at the Coffee County Jail charged with theft of property.
Ammons is awaiting his first court appearance. The suspect reportedly told the owner of the vehicle owner that he got behind the wheel in order to get back to his hometown of Geneva.
