AAA's move over or slow down law - - KTEN
TEXAS (KTEN) -- AAA asking all drivers to follow the statewide move over or slow down law.
"If there is an emergency vehicle or tow truck on the side of the road, you either have to move over a lane if they are on the shoulder, move over a lane, or slow down," said AAA Texas, Daniel Armbruster.
A new AAA study shows people are unaware of this enforcement which leads to many deaths each year.
Armbruster stated, "Twenty- four emergency responders including co-operators are struck and killed every year in the United States and this latest survey showed us that forty-two percent of the respondent thought the behavior was or somewhat or not interested at all to roadside emergency workers by not moving over or slowing down."
AAA Texas advices all to move over or slow down if cars are along the roadside.
"If it is your family there on the side of the road, you're not going to want someone flying by you at seventy miles an hour because if they hit your vehicle, of course that could cause serious injuries or even death," said Armbruster.
