ANN ARBOR, MI — Ann Arbor’s new law requiring menstrual products such as tampons to be freely available in public restrooms took effect Jan. 1, and early indications are that many businesses and other institutions are complying.

“I’m definitely noticing it now when I go into public restrooms,” said University of Michigan student Jasmine Qonja, a member of a student group called The Dot Org, which is working on reducing the stigma around menstruation and making menstrual hygiene products more accessible.
