Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony planned for next week - Dayton 24/7 Now

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) -- The community will gather next week to honor the 40 Montgomery County law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty over the last 131 years.

The 14th annual Montgomery County Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27. Law enforcement officers, elected officials, public dignitaries, family survivors and the public are invited to the ceremony.

A procession of officers, retirees and cruisers are scheduled to travel from the area of Temple Israel on Riverside Drive and arrive at 10:45 a.m. at RiverScape MetroPark in downtown Dayton. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Kathy Platoni, Psy, D, DAIPM, FAIS. Platoni is a psychologist who works with officers after traumatic incidents. She is a retired colonel with the U.S. Army.

The survivor speaker is scheduled to be Denise Dulle, mother of Sgt. Brian S. Dulle with the Warren County Sheriff's Office. Sgt. Dulle was struck and killed May 10, 2011, by a suspect vehicle while he was deploying stop sticks on State Route 42. Dulle served the Warren County Sheriff's Office for 12 years and was a U.S. Army veteran.
