Adding to its roster of influential former government lawyers, Covington & Burling has brought on a known entity in environmental law. The development comes as Beltway firms see growing demand for environmental, social and governance (ESG) advice.
Carol Browner joined Covington on Wednesday as of counsel, and will provide—as she has done throughout her career—advice on corporate sustainability approaches, environmental impact issues, regulatory matters, and strategies for companies to develop and advance clean energy and ESG priorities. Previously she was consulting as a senior policy adviser with Albright Stonebridge Group—a global macro consultancy that grew out of a firm she co-founded with former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright (the Albright Group), and which is now a part of Dentons Global Advisors.
