WAHPETON, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Police are searching for the person suspected of starting the Richland County Law Enforcement Center on fire.

Authorities say they saw a person go into the lobby around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1 at the center in Wahpeton. A short time later, officials say a fire started in the lobby.

Richland County officials say the fire caused moderate damage to the lobby and prompted authorities to move inmates out of the jail.

All the inmates at the law enforcement center were later taken to Cass and Barnes county jails as a precaution.

Multiple agencies are involved in the investigation.
