Belmont County Sheriff's Office receives grant for law enforcement explorer program - WTOV Steubenville
BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — The Belmont County Sheriff's Office received a grant worth more than $2,000 to assist with its law enforcement explorer program.
The Civics Education Fund, through the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, provided the funding. The program allows officers to work directly with high school and college students who have an interest in law enforcement or the criminal justice system.
“It's something for us to reach out to our community through our teenagers to show them some mentoring and guidance,” Sheriff Dave Lucas said.
“We teach them about the function and operation of the sheriff's office."
The sheriff's office accepts donations to help fund the project otherwise.
