Beshear signs NIL bill into law surrounded by Kentucky's biggest college coaches - WLKY Louisville

FRANKFORT, Ky. —

Kentucky's name, image and likeness bill became law on Wednesday in the company of a who's-who of college coaches.

Gov. Andy Beshear signed Senate Bill 6 in Frankfort. The bill allows athletes to make money endorsing products and companies.

There are limits, such as no illegal activity, gambling or alcohol and every deal has to be run by their school.

In Beshear's company was UK men's basketball coach John Calipari, UofL women's basketball coach Jeff Walz, UofL football coach Scott Satterfield and more.

Walz spoke at the podium before the signing, saying it now only allows athletes to get money, but also to give back.

Beshear had already signed an executive order allowing the deals, but the new law makes that permanent.
