BGPD deputy chief honored for achievement in law enforcement - News 40 - wnky.com

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky Women’s Law Enforcement Network Thursday honored Bowling Green Police Department Deputy Chief Penny Bowles with the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes someone for at least 20 years of law enforcement experience as well as someone who has made significant and meritorious contributions to law enforcement.

“This award is so humbling,” Bowles said.

Bowles has served the citizens of Bowling Green for a little more than 25 years.

She graduated from Western Kentucky University in December 1995 and started with BGPD in January 1996 working her way through the ranks beginning in patrol. She was promoted to sergeant in 2003, captain in 2009, assistant deputy chief in 2012 and deputy chief in 2018.

Bowles was instrumental in establishing the Bowling Green Law Enforcement Academy. She is also an active community volunteer in several organizations.
