Blakeman focuses on repeal of bail reform law, successful pandemic response in State of the County address - News 12 New Jersey

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman touted his administration's pandemic response and economic recovery during his first State of the County address.

The county executive says Nassau has been offering free test kits, free KN-95 masks for teachers and free vaccines.

Blakeman also focused on crime, saying he went to Albany to demand the repeal of the "dangerous, cashless bail law."

"Crime is out of control throughout the whole state," Blakeman says. "My message is to repeal the get out of jail free law and make us all safer."

He also promised to work with legislators to fix what he says is a broken reassessment system.

Blake says assessment must be "fair, transparent and understandable."

"No more mansions worth over $3 million paying no taxes - that's right - zero taxes. That's not going to happen anymore," Blakeman says.

He also ordered six new ambulances for the police department with more on the way.

Blakeman says more license plate readers will be coming to Nassau County to prevent car thefts and burglaries.

The county executive says they've accomplished much in his first 100 days in office, but "the best is yet to come."
