Body Cameras Issued to All Uniformed Law Enforcement Personnel in Livingston - TAPinto.net
LIVINGSTON, NJ — All members of the Livingston Police Department (LPD) are now utilizing Body Worn Cameras (BWC) while on duty in accordance with Gov. Phil Murphy and the New Jersey Legislature’s statewide mandate.
These two new laws now require the use of BWC by all “uniformed patrol officers” in the course of their duties, and provide the basic framework for the operation of BWC and the handling of BWC footage.
It is undisputed policing is a noble profession,” said Livingston Police Chief Gary Marshuetz. “We are charged with the responsibility of enforcing laws fairly and without prejudice. It has always been a primary goal to be as transparent as possible with the people we serve, balanced with protecting individual rights.”
According to Marshuetz, Watch Guard Motorola V300 body cameras were recently deployed to every member of the LPD to wear for the duration of his or her shift.
“We are pleased technology has advanced to the point of potentially providing video we can share with the public,” he said. “Video is also a powerful tool for training and mentoring. Professional and dedicated officers work hard daily in Livingston, and this fact will be supported by the presence of this system.”
