BOX ELDER, S.D. — Box Elder welcomed the month of October with their second annual Harvest Festival Saturday.

The event consisted of food trucks, rides, vendors, face painting and plenty of moments shared between police officers and citizens.

As the town of Box Elder continues to grow, officials feel that it’s important that the relationship between law enforcement and residents develops too.

The city hopes to continue to hold community development events like this one where everyone can relax and enjoy spending time together.

“It’s really exciting to see the large crowd that’s come out today and it’s only going to get bigger,” said city of Box Elder Marketing and Events Director Brent Hendrickson. “We have a brand new downtown that’s being built right now so all of this is going to tie in and work together and we’re really excited.”

Families were able to get their fill of snacks and fun before heading across the street for some fresh and free produce.
