Bridging the divide: Local law enforcement agencies talk police reform in the midlands - WACH.com

Columbia community leaders and local law enforcement agencies came together Monday in an effort to bridge a divide with justice reform in the midlands.
The NAACP branch of Columbia created a safe space for local law enforcement agencies to have conversations with community leaders about racial injustice, implicit bias, and transparency in the midlands.
The Communal Race Relations Training Selection committee consisting of academic researchers, faith-based leaders, mental health experts and much more helped facilitate these ground-breaking conversations.
In the past year, the C.R.R.T.S. recognized the instances of racial injustice and implicit bias in law enforcement practices- banning together with hopes to create a solution.
This training includes scenario-based role-playing with local law enforcement agencies addressing the issue of racial injustice in the midlands.
With the help of community volunteers, both the Columbia Police Department and Richland County Sheriffs' Department have agreed to use scenario-based role-playing to help eliminate this issue.
