Canadian Lawyers Decry "Secret" Trial - Law.com International

Lawyers across Canada are stunned by the revelation that a “phantom” trial has taken place in the province of Quebec.
“We live in a democracy, this is not a dictatorship. We don’t have secret trials,” said Jody Berkes, former head of the criminal justice section of the Canadian Bar Association. “To have a secret trial, where there’s no evidence that a trial ever took place, is extraordinary. I have never heard of it.”
