When leaders from Delaware-based midsize law firm Morris James last week toured the First State in search of an academic institution to financially support, they expected to hear that the bar exam posed the most significant barrier to underrepresented students pursuing a legal career.

Dawn Sheiker, the firm’s director of client relations, said they learned that “the challenges begin much earlier.”
