Cleveland-based law firm is expanding to Columbus - Columbus Business First - The Business Journals
Cleveland-based law firm Flannery | Georgalis LLC is expanding to Columbus.
The fast-growing firm, which focuses on criminal defense, internal investigations and complex civil litigation, was founded in 2017 and has grown to include more than 20 lawyers with offices in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Charlotte and now Columbus.
The firm largely is comprised of former federal and state prosecutors. It was founded by Paul Flannery and Chris Georgalis – both former assistant U.S. attorneys for the Northern District of Ohio. They became friends while working together to prosecute a large stock scheme, according to a news report in Cleveland.com.
The founding partner-in-charge of the firm's new Columbus office is Matthew Jalandoni, who had served as assistant attorney general for the state of Ohio from 2017 to this year.
The new Columbus office is located on South 3rd Street in downtown Columbus, near the Ohio Statehouse.
"Paul and Chris have built a deep and talented bench of former prosecutors, law enforcement officers and defense attorneys that brings its unique sensitive matter practice to the Columbus legal market," Jalandoni said in a press release.
"Columbus is the heart of state government, rich with industry, corporate expansion, national, regional, and local law firms, and a congenial white-collar defense bar. I am excited to join the Flannery | Georgalis team and lead the Columbus office here and throughout the region.”
Jalandoni most recently was the assistant chief of the charitable law section, "where he led investigations and litigation involving nonprofit healthcare systems, higher education institutions, private foundations and individuals for misusing multi-million dollar charitable funds," according to the law firm.
He also served in the Army JAG Corps, where he prosecuted court martial cases and defended other service members. He continues to be a major in the Army Reserve.
The cofounders said in a press release that they believe the firm will become a "go-to solution for clients in the greater Columbus area who find themselves in sensitive matters."
“Flannery | Georgalis is ... built to serve its clients and the clients of other law firms who find themselves in ‘high stakes, bet-the-company or your liberty is at risk’ type matters," Georgalis said in the release. "Matt will continue (the firm's) great tradition in Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and beyond."
