Cleveland City Council to urge Cleveland–Marshall College of Law to change its name - Crain's Cleveland Business

Cleveland City Council is looking to weigh in on the debate about whether Cleveland State University's Cleveland–Marshall College of Law should change its name to eliminate references to its titular Chief Justice John Marshall — someone who, history has it, often represented slaves pro-bono in efforts to win their freedom but who nonetheless is understood to have owned slaves most of his life.
