Comanche Co. law enforcement agencies searching for robbery suspect - KSWO
LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - A robbery suspect remains at large. Law enforcement agencies across Comanche County are looking for 30-year-old Andre Butler.
From what we’ve been able to piece together, he’s wanted for a 3 day crime spree that involved two stolen vehicles and a robbery in which he was armed with a knife.
Law enforcement hasn’t released many details but we know that Butler has managed to evade them a number of times.
30-year-old Andre Butler is accused of robbing a convenience store in Cache around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
He was reportedly armed with a knife. Law enforcement warns not to approach, as he may still have it.
Other than his race and height, we’ve been given no description that would help the public identify him.
Wednesday, Cache police searched for several hours before an officer came face-to-face with Butler, asking him to put his weapon down.
When Butler refused, the officer fired multiple shots, and Butler took off east into a neighborhood.
It’s unclear if he was hit by gunfire. He was last seen wearing blue and black plaid pants with no shirt.
The incident led to Cache Public Schools being placed on lockdown for several hours.
The Lawton Police Department, and many other agencies were called in to assist, according to LPD Public Information Officer Andrew Grubbs.
“We sent a K9 officer out to Cache to help with a manhunt that they had for an individual who was out they were searching for out there, and then last night we did have four officers and one supervisor assist Comanche County Sheriff’s Office in holding a perimeter around Gore and Pecan,” Grubbs said.
While authorities have not confirmed, we believe Butler is the same man who stole a vehicle from a dealership in Lawton on Monday and he led LPD on a chase to the Stephens County line, where they lost him.
Then law enforcement caught up with him at a casino in Lawton. He led them on another pursuit, then ran from police on foot into a nearby field. Authorities searched for him for several hours. He got away, that time, too.
Then later that night, he reportedly stole a bus east of Lawton. The bus was found at the same gas station that was robbed in Cache.
“It’s very important that we do catch these individuals because people who steal other peoples’ vehicles, items, whatnot, they are going to be a menace to our society,” Grubbs said. “They’re obviously going to cause a lot of problems, take peoples’ property and we don’t want that. We want everybody to feel safe in their community, and the way they can feel safe is when we put these type of people behind bars.”
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Comanche County Sheriff’s Office and Cache Police Department declined to interview with 7NEWS for this story.
The Comanche Nation Police Department, Refuge Officers and the Chattanooga Police Department also assisted in the search.
You should contact Cache Police or OSBI if you see him at (580) 429-3381 or the OSBI at (800) 522-8017 or [email protected].
