Connolly: Takeaways from the 5 Orioles prospects Keith Law placed in his top 100 - The Athletic

When Keith Law released his Top 100 prospects list this week, it should have resonated with Orioles fans.

The five Orioles prospects he included this year — one more than in 2021 — are the core of this organization’s rebuild. For the Orioles to have growth in the next few years, most have to succeed. For the club to be relevant, all need to have respectable careers, at the least, and a couple need to be perennial All-Stars.

The five Law selected — catcher Adley Rutschman (selected No. 1), right-hander Grayson Rodriguez, outfielder Colton Cowser, infielder Gunnar Henderson and lefty D.L. Hall — are former first-round picks, with the exception of Henderson, who was the first pick in the second round (No. 42) in 2019.

Add in 2020 first-round infielder Jordan Westburg (No. 30), who Law said just missed the top 100, and the club’s 2020 top pick, outfielder Heston Kjerstad (No. 2), whom Law dropped from last year’s list, and you have the seven wonders of this system.
