Convicted Felon Shot By Law Enforcement: RivCo Sheriff Releases Video - Patch
Edgar Alejandro Solis, 35, survived the shooting and is facing nearly 20 felony charges.

HEMET, CA — Video footage of a felon being shot by a California Highway Patrol officer and a Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputy in Hemet was released over the weekend.
The footage of the March 2 non-fatal shooting in the 600 block of Hillmer Drive was released Saturday by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Warning: The video contains disturbing content and is not suitable for children.
According to Sheriff Chad Bianco — who narrated the released video — the suspect, Edgar Alejandro Solis, 35, of Hemet, was spotted on the day of the shooting in a car in the area of 600 N. Taschner Drive.
A felon with active arrest warrants, Solis was allegedly armed and sped off when gang task-force officers tried to contact him.
He drove a short distance then abandoned the car and fled on foot, according to Bianco.
A California Highway Patrol officer tracked Solis to a residential backyard in the 600 block of Hillmer Drive and shot at him twice. A sheriff's deputy quickly arrived at the scene and also fired shots.
It's unclear how many times Solis was hit, but the video showed Solis down with an apparent leg wound. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment, Bianco said.
A handgun was found at the scene, according to the sheriff, and police can be seen in the video referencing the weapon.
Solis is facing nearly 20 active felony charges stemming as far back as 2020, including carjacking, robbery, receiving a stolen vehicle, dissuading a witness, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and drug charges, according to court records.
Solis has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is due back in court June 28 for a felony settlement conference, according to court records. He is being held at French Valley's Cois Byrd Detention Center in lieu of $500,000 bail, jail records show.
