Ending gun violence in Harrisburg, community, law enforcement, hold townhall on issue - WHP Harrisburg

Dauphin County, PA — So far in 2022, four people in Harrisburg have been killed by someone else with a gun.
With the death toll climbing at an alarming rate, residents organized a town hall for justice. Bringing together community leaders with law enforcement to find answers.
Community members say they are in pain. “I have my grandson, Daiquan Phillips that was killed the day after Christmas – 16 days after his birthday,” said Kim Turner-Johnson.
“We are running out of trees to wrap balloons around to RIP the many kids whose blood is shedding on the soil” said Anna.
Many families say they are still looking for answers.
Residents like Dr. Kevin Dolphin calling on each other to spark change.
“I know if we had worked together we wouldn’t be in this position that we are in now,” said Dr. Kevin Dauphin.
Law enforcement worries the problem is only getting worse. District Attorney, Fran Chardo, says he’s noticed a disturbing pattern. “Our offenders have gotten younger.”
Community members like Lavet Henderson says she is still optimistic the pendulum can swing in the opposite direction.
“Everybody needs to come to this table. Everybody needs to come up with solutions." said Henderson.
But others like Dr. Dale Dangleben admit it’s going to take everyone banding together to make a real difference. “We have to help ourselves, so I point the finger at every one of us.“
Community members aren’t pointing the finger at law enforcement, but are calling on them to do a better job stopping the bloodshed.
