EPD: 1 suspect arrested, major law enforcement presence at 5th and V streets in Eureka - KRCRTV.COM

EUREKA, Calif. — The Eureka Police Department said a suspect was arrested in connection to an incident near the area of 5th and V streets in Eureka, that prompted a major law enforcement response Thursday.
UPDATE [3:45 P.M.]
Eureka Police Department Public Information Officer Brittany Powell told KAEF News Director Nazy Javid on the scene that a suspect was arrested, and there was no longer any threat to the public.
Powell also said that it appeared there were multiple vehicle crashes in relation to the incident. She said information was still being gathered, and that they were looking into a possible report of shots fired, although it was unclear who may have fired and who may have been shot.
All law enforcement personnel that responded to the incident are believed to be ok, according to Powell.

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office tweeted on Thursday afternoon that an active law enforcement situation was occurring in Eureka.
Police communication showed there were multiple locations involved with the incident, but the majority of law enforcement was in the area of 5th and V streets.
The Eureka Police Department, Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, Humboldt Bay Fire and other agencies responded to assist.
North Coast News was live at the scene.
Around 3:15 p.m., one person was seen being loaded into an ambulance. They were escorted by law enforcement out of the nearby greenbelt where the suspect appeared to be hiding.
Investigators then arrived to tape off the area and collect evidence.
