Former Foley & Lardner partner Cleta Mitchell and Michael Best & Friedrich attorney Andrew Hitt are among the 10 lawyers hit with ethics complaints on Monday in the first wave of activism from the 65 Project, a newly founded group that seeks to sanction attorneys who participated in efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Managing director Michael Teter, a Utah attorney, publicly launched the group Monday, calling it a bipartisan effort to hold accountable lawyers who engage in fraudulent abuse of the legal system to overturn election results and fuel insurrection. The advisory board includes former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle; Paul Rosenzweig, who served as deputy assistant secretary for policy in the Department of Homeland Security in the George W. Bush administration; and former Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice Christine Durham.
