Extra law enforcement brought in to three Everett-area schools after reported threats - KOMO News

EVERETT, Wash. - There will be extra police presence at three Everett-area schools Thursday after reported threats were made.
An Explorer Middle School student said they got a text from an unknown number about a potential bomb threat at the school.
The Mukilteo School District later sent out a letter saying it was working with law enforcement, staff members and others to keep the campus safe.
However, this was not the only school threatened.
The district also said Mariner High and Voyager Middle were both reportedly threatened on social media.
Multiple students reported the threat after seeing it online. The district has since ensured extra law enforcement offices will be at the schools Thursday to keep it safe.
"When an incident of this type occurs, we provide as much information to you as possible," the district said. "We do, however, have to be cautious not to share information that may interfere with the investigation of the incident. Thank you in advance for avoiding speculation about this incident and not spreading rumors."
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said early Thursday it was investigating the threats. Deputies say they were able to find out who posted the social media post and arrest the suspect, a 14-year-old. The suspect is facing six felony charges.
These threats come just days after Ethan Crumbley, 15, opened fire at his Michigan high school, leaving at least four dead and seven others injured.
Michigan police warned parents everywhere after the shooting, citing past events where a school shooting may inspire threats elsewhere.
"As these threats are investigated and the person posting the threat is found, that investigation will be turned over to prosecutors," officials tweeted. "It doesn’t matter if the threat was a “joke” or whatever the suspect was attempting."
