The FBI is searching for the former brother-in-law of a murdered Alabama teacher in connection with her 2017 shooting death outside her home.
Darin Christopher Starr, 53, of North Carolina, is wanted on a charge of use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of a murder-for-hire, the FBI announced Wednesday.
Starr is the former brother-in-law of Sara Starr, a fourth-grade teacher at Harrand Creek Elementary School in Enterprise and mother of two sets of twins who was shot and killed outside her home on Nov. 27, 2017 in Coffee County.
Darin Starr is the brother of Jason Starr, Sara Starr’s ex-husband who was arrested in December on a charge of murder-for-hire, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office told CBS 42.
A federal arrest warrant was issued for Darin Starr on Wednesday in Montgomery federal court.
Darin Starr was described as 6-feet 4-inches tall, 200 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has ties to Lakehills, Tex.; San Antonio, Tex.; Glendale, Ariz; and Colebrook, Conn., according to the FBI.
The agency is offering a reward up to $10,000 for information leading to Darin Christopher Starr’s arrest.
Anyone with information on the suspect was asked to contact their local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.
