Ferndale man arrested after evading law enforcement, threatening gas station employee | 790 KGMI - KGMI

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – A Ferndale man learned the hard way that he shouldn’t threaten strangers when trying to evade law enforcement.

Court documents state that an employee at the Shell gas station on East Bakerview Road was leaving work when several vehicles with loud exhausts pulled in.

The employee started taking a video of one of the cars but the driver noticed him filming.

That driver, identified as 37-year-old Cory Mezo, motioned for the employee to come over to his window, where the employee noticed a gun in Mezo’s lap.

Mezo told the employee that he needed to delete the video because he was evading law enforcement and implied the employee would be shot if he didn’t comply.

The employee secretly saved the video to his phone before deleting a copy in front of Mezo.

Police later arrested Mezo, who was wanted on several domestic violence charges.
