Fisher Phillips absorbs part of Roseville-based The Saqui Law Group - Sacramento Business Journal - Sacramento Business Journal

The Downtown Sacramento office of Fisher Phillips LLP is growing after the recent absorption of Roseville-based The Saqui Law Group, which saw four new employees join the national labor and employment law firm.

Fisher Phillips is based in Atlanta, with 35 offices across the country and approximately 550 attorneys. The local office on Capitol Mall currently has 12 attorneys, following the latest addition.

Fisher Phillips Regional Managing Partner Alden Parker described the deal as a strategic relationship between the two firms.

"We were friendly competitors in the agricultural space. That firm concentrated exclusively on agriculture and the agricultural industry," Parker said. "When the opportunity came about to go ahead and form that relationship with Mike and absorb his team, it looked like a great opportunity for us."

Joining Fisher Phillips are Senior Counsel Michael Saqui, Of Counsel Rebecca Hause-Schultz, associate Heather Domingo and law clerk Christina Anton.

"They'll expand our capabilities with the agricultural industry," Parker said. "Being located in Sacramento, it's important for us to grow that area and our capability to service it. Our firm has always done a lot in the H-2A space and representing clients in the agricultural industry, both nationally and in California, but bringing on these attorneys that have an absolute focus on this area is a really great addition." H-2A refers to the form of visa issued to temporary agricultural workers from outside the U.S.

The Saqui Law Group has locations in Roseville and Salinas, according to its website. The latest deal saw the firm's Roseville office absorbed.

Michael Saqui said joining Fisher Phillips will allow him and his colleagues to better serve their clients in the agricultural industry, as the new firm has offices around the country giving clients a high level of service.

"Becoming part of Fisher Phillips benefits everyone, as we all work to achieve the best possible results for our clients and help solve the complex legal issues that exist in today's workplaces," Saqui said in a news release.
