A regular feature looking back at what was being printed more than 100 years ago in the Bristol Daily Courier. This week’s entry comes from the March 4, 1920 edition of the newspaper.

Bristol Police Enforcing Law On Automobiles

The Bristol Police Department is again exercising vigilance with the approach of spring to see to it that automobile drivers observe the requirements of the law. The officers have been instructed to see that drivers without proper license and those who violate the law regarding their lights, etc. are promptly called to account.

This morning a Trenton man, who was running a machine here without a Pennsylvania license, was arrested. He gave his name as B. F. Gllberson, of the Jersey metropolis.

There are quite a few Trenton machines which come to Bristol regularly, and which do not carry Pennsylvania licenses, and the police are determined to see that these men obey the law.

There is a certain exchange courtesy between the two states, by which transient travelers do not have to have a license in both states, but regular business vehicles which come here regularly are required to be so licensed.
