Former Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Elizabeth Callan joins law firm Vorys - Cincinnati Business Courier - Cincinnati Business Courier
A former Hamilton County judge has joined one of Cincinnati's largest law firms.
Columbus-based Vorys on Tuesday announced former Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Elizabeth Callan has joined its Cincinnati office at 301 E. Fourth St.
Callan serves as of counsel in the labor and employment group in Vorys' Cincinnati office.
“Employers are currently facing a myriad of issues related to our current climate," Vorys Labor and Employment Group Chair Mark Knueve said in a news release. "Libby will be able to jump in and help these employers as they navigate the complex business environment.”
Callan served as Common Pleas court judge from 2019, when she was appointed to a vacant seat by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, until the end of that term in 2021 after she lost her bid for reelection.
Prior to being appointed judge, Callan was a principal in New York law firm Jackson Lewis' Cincinnati office. Before that, she spent a decade as a partner at Dinsmore & Shohl. Early in her career Callan served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Ross County.
Callan earned her bachelor's degree cum laude with honors from the University of Cincinnati and her J.D. cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law.
Callan is a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association and serves on the Foundation Board at Lighthouse Youth Services.
Vorys is the sixth-largest law firm in Cincinnati with 70 local attorneys, according to Courier research.
