Former Miami chief Acevedo joins CNN as law enforcement analyst - Police News

MIAMI — When Art Acevedo was ousted as Miami’s Chief of Police – after just six months – the former Houston chief said that he’s “not a quitter.” In an interview with NBC, just a week after his October firing, Acevedo said, “I don’t plan on quitting on being a voice for this profession and being a voice for the good police officers in this country.”

Now, we may have a clearer idea of what that means. According to WPLG, Acevedo has a new gig – as a law enforcement analyst for CNN. Acevedo took to Twitter on Tuesday to share the news.

“Excited to join @CNN team to continue being part of the discussion on law enforcement and criminal justice,” Acevedo wrote.

Acevedo appeared on a segment of “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer” on Tuesday to discuss gun violence in America.

"Joining us now, our new CNN Law Enforcement analyst Art Acevedo, the former police chief of Austin, Houston and Miami," Blitzer said in the interview. "Chief Acevedo welcome to CNN."

Acevedo was removed as Miami’s Chief of Police after a series of gaffes and controversial decisions that irked city officials.
