Georgetown Law lecturer talks prosecution's case in Rittenhouse trial, Arbery trial jurors - WJLA
WASHINGTON (7News) — Ahead of closing arguments in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial, Distinguished Lecturer at Georgetown Law Center, Frederic Lawrence, gives his take on how well the prosecution has laid out their case.
7News Anchor Adrianna Hopkins: it seems like the prosecution in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial is not very confident.
"I think the prosecution is right not to be confident. the defense has been able to put the issue of self-defense front and center. The burden is on the prosecution to prove it wasn't self-defense. Proving the absence of something is very complicated. That's one problem. The defense has done a pretty good job of proving Kyle Rittenhouse did fear for his life," Lawrence said.
"Eleven out of 12 jurors in the trial for the men who shot and killed Ahmaud Arbery are white. Are you concerned about the juror makeup?" Hopkins asked.
"You can't not notice that. I'm hopeful that the prosecution's got a strong case. This case shows exactly why citizens' arrest laws are so terribly dangerous. You have untrained people Using what they think is their best judgment and then a tragedy results," Lawrence said.
