Georgia is now positioned to become businesses’ favorite state in the U.S. for international mediation, as well as the favorite state in the Southeast for domestic or international mediation.

That positioning is the result of the Georgia Uniform Mediation Act (Senate Bill 234), which went into effect July 1. It made Georgia the first state to incorporate into its own laws the United Nations’ Model Law on International Commercial Mediation and International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, which the UN Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) amended in late 2018.
