Geragos Law Firm Loses Appeal of $3,500 Frivolous Suit Sanction - Bloomberg Law

Celebrity attorney Mark Geragos’ law firm will have to pay a $3,500 sanction levied against it for filing a frivolous legal malpractice suit, a California appeals court said.

Geragos & Geragos didn’t oppose the motion for sanctions on the merits when it was pending in the trial court, the California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division One, said Monday. “Therefore, they have forfeited their arguments on appeal.”

Although the court said it was “dismayed by the Geragos Firm’s distortion of the appellate record,” it decided against imposing an additional sanctions for filing a frivolous appeal.
