Gov. Holcomb Signs 37 Bills Into Law - Eagle 99.3 FM WSCH

More bills could become law as the 2022 legislative session nears its end.

INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Eric Holcomb has signed 37 bills into law.

Some of those new laws include:

House Bill 1001 – Administrative authority; COVID-19 immunizations. The bill gives state agencies additional powers and guarantees some employees in the state exemptions from employer COVID-19 vaccination mandates.

House Bill 1013 – Authored by State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg), the legislation designates the mastodon as the official state fossil of Indiana.

Senate Bill 19 – Sentence enhancement for use of firearm. Adds an investigator for the inspector general to the definition of “police officer” for the purposes of the statue providing a sentence enhancement for individuals who point or discharge a firearm at a police officer while committing certain crimes.

Senate Bill 1 – Automatic taxpayer refund. Removes a provision that requires taxpayers to have adjusted gross income tax liability in order to qualify for an automatic taxpayer refund.

Senate Bill 294 - Law enforcement training board. Changes the membership of the law enforcement training board. Requires the creation of certain statewide policies and training programs. Requires the creation of minimum standards for certain best practices
