Governor Little signs law aiming to provide support for the elderly - KMVT
MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — From continuing home-delivered meals to dementia caregiver support, Idaho’s aging population is set to benefit from a new law signed by Governor Brad Little on Monday.
Governor Little visited the Mountain Home Senior Center to sign the appropriation bill for the Commission on Aging into law. Among its impacts are a new $5 million investment in Idaho’s senior centers and over $700,000 in new continuous funding aimed at improving access to care for vulnerable seniors and their caregivers.
The law was outlined by Little at the start of the year as one of the key components of his Leading Idaho plan.
“This is the right thing to do to help the senior centers that are all over the state to help get everybody back on their feet to get the flow and the services moving to basically address, whether we like it or not, our growing population of seniors,” said Little,
Among the planned uses for the new senior center funding are upgrading the safety of some meal site locations and increasing support for home-delivered meals.
