High-profile Arizona attorney joins Valley office of litigation law firm Buchalter - Phoenix Business Journal - The Business Journals

Anthony Martin, the former acting U.S. attorney for the District of Arizona, has joined the Scottsdale office of a national law firm.

Martin joins the white collar and investigations practice of Los Angeles-based Buchalter, which recently made several other appointments to bolster that group. The group, which was formed in 2020, now has more than a dozen attorneys scattered across several of the firm’s offices.

In addition, the firm hired Adam Sechooler and Arielle Seidman to join the practice, working out of Buchalter’s Orange County office.

“I am thrilled to welcome Anthony, Adam, and Arielle to the Firm,” said Buchalter President and CEO Adam Bass in a statement. “Anthony is a litigation powerhouse with an impressive government background and is a welcome addition to our Scottsdale office. Adam and Arielle bring extensive experience in high-stakes litigation disputes to Orange County. All three are incredible assets to our white collar group.”

Martin, who was also previously the chief deputy attorney general of West Virginia, focuses his practice on government investigations, state attorneys general enforcement actions, and multi-jurisdictional litigation. He has managed civil and criminal litigation and investigations in a range of subject matter throughout his career.

During his tenure as acting U.S. attorney and first assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Arizona, he supervised federal government litigation while leading a team of about 175 assistant U.S. attorneys involved in high-profile prosecutions and litigation involving securities fraud and other matters.

Sechooler focuses his practice on business litigation, high-stakes disputes, and white-collar defense. Seidman, formerly of Cravath, Swaine & Moore, has represented clients in high-profile litigation cases, including the defense of Qualcomm against FTC antitrust claims and pursuing RICO and human trafficking claims against a major multinational religious organization.

With the addition of Martin, Buchalter has now added four former federal prosecutors to its ranks.

“Anthony, Adam, and Arielle are exactly the type of stellar talent we wanted to add to the team,” said Joshua Robbins, co-chair of the firm’s white collar and investigations practice, in a statement. “Our group is putting down roots across the western region, and these attorneys will add tremendous value as we continue our expansion.”
