Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation to make the Nourish New York Program a permanent state law. The signing of the legislation comes before the Thanksgiving holiday to combat food insecurity across the state.

QUEENS, N.Y. - Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation to make the Nourish New York Program a permanent state law. The signing of the legislation comes before the Thanksgiving holiday to combat food insecurity across the state.

The Nourish NY Program & Agriculture Market Law partners with farmers and food banks to supply food to families in need.

Governor Kathy Hochul said, " I want them to know that the government looks out for its people and we're starting here today by signing this, but I don't ever again want to see this human spectacle of people having to stand here, waiting for food."

Hochul said the toll the pandemic has taken on New Yorkers made this law a temporary lifeline to help feed every family in need of food.
