Holtzman Vogel law firm opens Phoenix office - Phoenix Business Journal - The Business Journals
Holtzman Vogel Baran Torchinsky & Josefiak PLLC, a national law firm specializing in government, regulatory matters and litigation, this week opened a Phoenix office that will be its base to serve West Coast clients.
While Christine Fort, a partner with Holtzman Vogel, had been working in Phoenix since 2018, executives said the timing was right to expand in Arizona with a brick-and-mortar location, in advance of more hiring this year.
“We’ve already developed a lot of clients in Arizona, California and the west. We know our clients will appreciate having an office where they can come in for meetings,” said Jill Holtzman Vogel, the firm’s managing partner, who was in Phoenix this week for the office opening. “We already have lots of connections [in Arizona] so now with the new office we can hit the ground running.”
The firm has leased 3,200 square feet of space in The Esplanade on East Camelback Road in the Biltmore area.
“We searched all over Phoenix for the right space and are certainly glad we ended up here,” Holtzman Vogel said.
Dallin Holt, Holtzman Vogel’s Of Counsel who had been based on the East Coast, has just relocated to the Valley to work out of the new Arizona office. He has been with the firm since January 2020.
The firm mainly represents government clients, political committees and politicians, and some Fortune 500 companies.
Holtzman Vogel is former chief counsel for the Republican National Congressional Committee — she represented the Bush-Cheney ticket during the well-known "hanging chad" recount in Florida during the 2000 election — and is a sitting member of the Virginia General Assembly. Fort worked as associate general counsel at the Arizona House of Representatives from late 2016 through May 2018, before joining the firm that year. She had a previous stint with the NRCC in the nation’s capital from 2013-2015.
Holtzman Vogel said she considers the Phoenix office to be a regional hub.
“Because we operate a national practice, everybody really gets a chance to work together. We have a lot of overlap and movement by attorneys between offices,” she said. “People work better together and when they get to know each other, so we try to rotate people in and out of other offices as they focus on different projects and clients.”
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., and founded in 2001, the firm now has 40 attorneys on the payroll across its national footprint. Holtzman Vogel has two other U.S. offices, in Virginia and Florida.
Another out-of-state law firm decided to plant its flag in Arizona earlier this year, Minnesota-based Dorsey & Whitney LLP opened a Valley office after luring over several local attorneys from Quarles & Brady.
