GRANTS PASS, Ore. - All lanes of Interstate 5 north and south are closed between mileposts 48-55 (about 5 miles south of Grants Pass) for law enforcement activity, Oregon Dept. of Transportation said around 4 p.m. Sunday.

According to Oregon State Police, this is a SWAT call-out with Josephine and Jackson County Sheriff's offices. Several other law enforcement personnel are responding as well.

Both north and southbound lanes are closed and our reporter in the area says the freeway is at a standstill.

"This could be a lengthy closure," ODOT said. They also said to use alternate routes.

A detour is in place for both directions - Exit 55 (southbound) and Exit 45A (northbound) - onto Highway 99.
