At the COP26 climate change conference in Scotland earlier this month, world leaders signed off on a new climate change agreement. While some countries have committed to significant cuts, many others were hesitant to pledge ambitious targets. India, for example, a country heavily reliant on coal power, agreed to reach net-zero emissions by 2070.
Lawyers in Asia say the disparity in progress and development, the lack of alternative resources and the ambiguity of government regulations and policies across the region, all present significant challenges for corporates to get onboard.
