Industry Codes Incorporated Into Law Are Fair Use, Judge Says - Bloomberg Law

More than 180 private sector codes and standards that were incorporated into law now fall under fair use, even though they were created by three technical industry associations, a D.C. federal judge ruled.

Of the 217 regulatory standards in question, 184 can be copied and distributed without the permission of the organizations that developed them, Judge Tanya S. Chutkan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia said Thursday.
