Interactive: How the 2007 Missouri General Assembly repealed a key gun law - Kansas City Star

In 2007, the Missouri General Assembly passed a bill repealing the state’s permit to purchase requirements for guns — something research shows led to a significant increase in violence over the years. Analyzing state government data, The Star recreated the general assembly from that year based on each representative's vote and the increase in gun violence in their home county. As part of the data compilation, Star reporters also undertook a joint effort with students at the University of Missouri to reach out to members of the 2007 general assembly.

Click on any box to see how the representative from your area voted, how much money they received from gun lobbyists and how much gun violence has increased since then.
