Interstate 17 northbound in Phoenix closed for law enforcement situation - The Arizona Republic
Interstate 17 northbound in Phoenix was closed because of a shooting on Tuesday night.
Phoenix police received reports of a shooting on I-17 just after 9 p.m., according to police spokesperson Sgt. Ann Justus. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound. His injuries were not reported as life-threatening, Justus said.
The man did not provide information about who was involved in the shooting, according to Justus. Officers at the scene were trying to determine what led up to the shooting.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety was assisting the Phoenix Police Department with the incident, according to the DPS duty office.
The closure will be in effect for an indefinite amount of time, but the southbound lanes remain open. The on-ramps at Northern and Glendale avenues were also closed as of 10 p.m., according to a tweet by ADOT.
Police did not release any more information at this time.
