It’s time for Conservatives to show they are the party of law and order... - The Sun

A BLITZ on illegal drugs is long overdue.

New stats show this vile trade is linked to half of all burglaries and violent robberies.

Most of this crime is driven by just 300,000 heroin and crack cocaine users whose lives have been blighted by their addiction.

Drugs trafficking wrecks communities up and down the country, from inner cities to vast rural areas.

Levelling up Britain can’t begin without tackling it.

Yet as Boris Johnson says in our interview today: ‘’It’s been a long time since the Government said drugs are bad and dangerous.

"It’s time we did something about it.’’

The PM’s wide-ranging crackdown is a welcome rejection of defeatist talk of decriminalisation.

But bold words without actions will not do.

Boris must take on the notorious county line gangs and liberal middle-class casual users who fuel demand.

Home Secretary Priti Patel will be a key player in this new assault so it is good to see Boris throwing his support behind her.

A ten-year war on drugs sounds impressive, but voters will expect results well before the next election.

The Tories have currently lost their reputation as the party of low taxes.

It’s time to show they are the party of law and order.

Prince charming

PRINCE William’s candid podcast tells us much about the future king.

He is generous, honest and refreshingly open about the mental traumas he suffered as an air ambulance pilot.

But he also speaks movingly about intimate moments with his family.

He describes listening to Tina Turner on the radio with his late mother Diana and his now estranged brother Harry.

And he shows he is prepared to laugh at himself in the name of charity.

When he was unexpectedly invited on stage at one event to sing alongside Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift, he realised he didn’t know the words.

But he carried on regardless, saying “I can’t be the doofus who’s going to ruin it for everyone.”

His chat was recorded for an Apple Fitness podcast.

But rather than cashing in, he negotiated a deal with the company to donate a substantial six-figure sum to his mental health charities.

We salute William for giving us such a generous insight into his life — and for benefiting others rather than himself.

What a contrast with his money-hungry brother.
