CONTRIBUTED PHOTOEASTON — Kelly Testerman Jackson, who retired from the Maryland State Police as a captain, has joined the Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence staff as its law enforcement coordinator.
Jackson will be working with law enforcement agencies across the Mid-Shore to ensure that victims of domestic violence are receiving advocacy services to the fullest extent, according to a news release.
In her first week on the job, Jackson met with the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office to discuss initiatives that support victims of domestic violence.
"I’m extremely honored that I have an opportunity to partner with members of our law enforcement community and support victims throughout the Mid-Shore who are dealing with domestic violence," Jackson said in the news release.
Prior to her retirement in 2012, Jackson had served as commander of the MSP's Professional Policing Division, which provided opportunities to work in the patrol and investigative divisions in each barrack on the Eastern Shore.
She also worked in the MSP's Regional Family Violence Unit, which was created through a partnership with Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence.
“Law enforcement agencies have always been strong and vital partners of MSCFV and we look forward to enhancing our work together to support victims and hold abusers accountable through this project," Jeanne Yeager, executive director of the MSCFV, said in a prepared statement.
"We are very fortunate to have Kelly leading the important work of strengthening our relationships and coordinated efforts in the Mid-Shore area," Yeager added.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call the MSCFV 24/7 hotline at 1-800-927-4673.
