Jesse L Martin discusses potential return to Law & Order - Digital Spy
The Flash's Jesse L Martin hopes to reprise his role as Detective Ed Green in Law & Order when NBC rolls out the revival of its iconic procedural series.
In October last year, it was announced the show would return after being off the air since 2010 — joining up with Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organised Crime — as part of NBC's new Thursday night line-up.
The new episodes will form Law & Order's 21st season and will pick up where the show left off when it was cancelled over a decade ago.
Appearing on CBS’ The Talk on Thursday (February 3), Martin addressed the possibility of returning as Detective Green, whom he played in over 200 episodes from seasons 10 through 18.
"I certainly hope so. There were a lot of loose ends when Ed Green left the scene, if you will," Martin said before adding, "Yes, maybe." Intriguing!
Martin's Green first appeared on the Dick Wolf procedural in 1999 for season 10 and served as Briscoe’s (Jerry Orbach) partner until he retired in 2004. Green left the force in season 18.
Martin was replaced by Jeremy Sisto’s Cyrus Lupo in the 2008 episode, titled 'Burn Card'.
In January, a teaser for the the revival revealed the return of series regular, Sam Waterston, which sees Jack back in full McCoy mode as he declares: "It's okay to play the hero... as long as you win."
Law & Order season 21 will premiere on February 24 on NBC. Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays on NBC in the US. The show airs on Sky Witness in the UK, with select episodes available on NOW.
