Jonathan Law Senior Wins Prestigious Coca-Cola Scholarship - Patch
Jonathan Law High School senior Diya Daruka was one of 150 students nationally to win the scholarship out of more than 68,000 applicants.
MILFORD, CT —Jonathan Law High School senior Diya Daruka was named as a 2022 Coca-Cola Scholar. The scholarship was awarded to 150 high school students across the country out of more than 68,000 applications, and it comes with a $20,000 college scholarship.
Daruka currently ranks first in the Class of 2022 at Jonathan Law. She was also named a College Board National Merit Scholarship and the Boys and Girls Club of Milford Youth of the Year. She is president of the National Math Honor Society and serves on the national board for the Boys and Girls Club of America.
Daruka also founded a non-profit that teaches students in grades 3-12 about saving, investing and financial literacy.

Diya is awaiting her college acceptance letters with most of them due to come in at the end of the month. Two top contenders include Boston College and Wharton School of Business/University of Pennsylvania. She hopes to pursue a degree in finance/investment banking and analytics. She would like to start her own impact investing firm one day.
Diya was excited to hear the news and grateful for the award, in many ways.
"I am so thankful to have received this scholarship from Coca-Cola," she said. "Not only is the scholarship for monetary value but the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation greatly values staying connected to Scholars even after college.
"I am extremely excited to be a part of the incredible alumni community of Scholars in helping promote making the world a better place," Daruka said. "I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and would like to thank the administration and staff at Jonathan Law as well as my family who helped make this achievement possible."
Jonathan Law High School principal Bryan Darcy commented, "Diya is a dedicated and passionate individual with a vibrant personality. She is a wonderful young woman who possesses all of the characteristics we want every student to have. I'm proud of this accomplishment and the many others that will follow."
