Justices Decline Case Where Partner Sued Her Law Firm for Bias - Bloomberg Law

The U.S. Supreme Court won’t consider whether an equity partner at Myers Bigel PA qualifies as an employee who can sue the firm for race and gender discrimination.

The justices on Monday declined to hear the case brought from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, which had previously found the dispute between the firm and Shawna Lemon couldn’t move forward because the patent attorney was considered an owner of the firm and therefore ineligible to bring an action under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
