Justices Take Up Challenges to Race-Based Admissions Policies at Harvard, North Carolina | National Law Journal - Law.com

Jumping back into the decades-old battle over affirmative action, the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday said it will decide whether race can still be used as a factor in the admission policies of public and private colleges and universities.

The cases, Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard College and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina, will be the first affirmative action challenges to come before the court since the confirmation of its three newest justices: Trump appointees Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.
